‘Why,’ you ask?
Everybody has a blog these days: from 93-year-old Canadian guys to my friend’s cat. You can even set up a blog for your Xbox 360.
One of the biggest blogging trends, however, is the “mommy blog,” and no wonder: Parenting can be an incredibly isolating experience, no matter how many friends and relatives you have nearby.
When you read mommy blogs, you can find parents who are battling the same issues you are, from infertility to picky eaters.
That support can be crucial, because keeping quiet and stewing in our insecurities is a recipe for disaster.
Kind of like Lynette on the ABC prime-time hit Desperate Housewives. I remember one episode in which she felt so overwhelmed in caring for her four children that she daydreamed about suicide.
When concerned friends found out why she was so shook up, they started sharing their own stories, and before long, she realized she wasn’t the only mother who ever got stressed taking care of young children.
“We should tell each other this stuff!” she cried.
It’s in that spirit that I’m writing this blog. Here you’ll find discussions of women’s and parenting issues, book reviews, and general commentary about my own strange journey through marriage and motherhood.
So come back often: Read, comment, support, critique, debate, and get connected with moms and dads online everywhere.
